Identifying The Queen

The queens wings are not as long as the other bees, but her body is very long and thin, she has no hair and is very shiny, she is easy to find with a trained eye.

If you can locate her, just behind her, in a cell, is what appears to be a small white thread. This is actually a freshly laid egg!

Why did you destroy some of the queens?
What made you decide to do this?

More pictures, please... this is cool.

Actually, she (the original Queen) kills the Queen larvae so that she doesn't have any competition. The problem is, sometimes she chooses to leave (swarm) instead of kill. When she leaves, she takes half the colony with her. This sets the honey harvest back a few weeks. To prevent swarming, we locate and destroy any new Queen cells.
